Description This is a decriptive file to inform about the structure of the 6-17-years-old population in Switzerland across various variables and allow assessment of how representative the participants of the menuCH-Kids survey were prior to weighting.

In each tab, the actual number of people participanting to each part of the survey is reported (all questionnaires: N_quest; visit in survey center: N_visit; blood draw: N_blood).
In addition, N_margin corresponds to the average targeted population size in Switzerland, used by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) to draw the invited sample for the survey, and represents the number of Swiss residents assumed to be covered by the participants in the survey.
As the survey was condected over a full year to account of the saeson variation in food consumption and behaviour, the individuals invitated to participate were sampled over four invitation waves, to have short timeframe between sampling and invitation. N_margin is the mean of the four waves.
Of note, the sum of participants' statistical weights in the data does not exactly match the N_margin values, as weights were trimmed at median + 5 * IQR (Interquartile Range).

The full sampling and weighting strategy used to improve representativeness of the population is described in the document "Weighting strategy".
